With a master of business administration in entrepreneurship, finance, and strategic management from the University Chicago Booth School of Business, Demetrios Dounis is a partner at Heartwood Partners in Norwalk, Connecticut. He leads portfolio management and offers strategic guidance and support to several of Heartwood's portfolio companies. In line with his career, Demetrios Dounis is a member of the New York Chapter of the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG).

Initially founded as the Association for Corporate Growth and Diversification, Inc. in 1954, ACG seeks to promote best practices and act as a knowledge hub and a networking platform for capital providers and industry executives in the global middle market private community. The ACG has 59 chapters and 14,500 global members, and it serves over 90,000 investors, lenders, and advisers. Of the 59, the oldest chapter is in New York and was the first to hold a full-day women's leadership conference in 2014 with the Women of Leadership Summit.

The ACG New York Annual Women of Leadership Summit targets established and emerging women leaders in the global middle market's mergers and acquisitions community. The agenda typically involves keynote speakers, curated networking, shared experiences, discussions, and one-on-one meetings. Each year has a primary theme. For instance, the 2021 focus was on how women are shifting professional direction while balancing their private lives at the same time. The summit usually culminates in a soiree dinner.
